We are excited to share the newest research on the effectiveness of SIOP. The research findings include:
1- Focus on Academic Language. Having the research to show improvement in this area is key to our market today because as schools implement CCSS, they will need a strong focus on academic language, especially for ELs. This study shows improvement in student scores in classrooms where teachers were trained on SIOP and implemented the model with high fidelity. It is a reaffirmation once again that we cannot teach language without content.
2- Correlation between professional development and student achievement. Being able to show that professional development on SIOP has a direct impact on student achievement is very powerful—remember that there aren’t very many programs that can show this direct correlation.
